Getting to Chefchaouen by car
Chefchaouen is about 115 km from Tangier (2 h), 60 km from Tetouan (1 h 15) and 200 km from Fes (3 h 30). The Rif roads are winding: drive in daylight, allow time and avoid night driving.
Chefchaouen and its surroundings by car
- The medina is pedestrian: park in the car park under Outa el Hammam square.
- The Akchour waterfall and the God's Bridge (35 km, 50 minutes): a full day, with good shoes.
- Tetouan and its listed medina, then the beaches of Martil.
- Tangier and Cape Spartel to finish the trip.
Which car for the Rif?
A car with a little power is more pleasant on mountain roads; a small car is enough if you drive carefully. Check your fuel level before leaving town.
