The three protection levels
- Basic protection, included: mandatory third-party liability, 24/7 roadside assistance, standard excess in case of damage.
- Comfort protection, about 80 MAD a day: much lower excess; windscreen, windows, mirrors, tyres and wheels covered.
- Serenity protection (full cover), about 140 MAD a day: zero excess; theft, fire, glass, tyres, wheels and lost keys; deposit reduced to the minimum.
- For 4x4s, premium cars and minibuses, protection prices are 50% higher.
Excess and deposit: the difference
The excess is the maximum amount you pay in case of damage. The deposit is the sum blocked during the rental to guarantee it. With Serenity cover, the excess drops to zero and the deposit is reduced to the minimum: you drive with peace of mind and without tying up a large sum.
The standard deposit depends on the category: about 3,000 MAD for a mini, 4,000 MAD for an economy car, 8,000 MAD for an SUV and up to 15,000 MAD for a premium car.
When to take it
- For the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the Ouzoud road or a road trip to the desert.
- If you stay in the medina and park in the street.
- If you want to limit the deposit blocked on your card.
- For a 4x4 or a premium car, which carry a high deposit.
What is still excluded
As everywhere, drink-driving, driving by someone not named on the contract and, unless the agency agrees, off-road driving are not covered. Read the offer’s conditions before you book.
