Marrakech → Fes by car
About 530 km by motorway via Casablanca and Rabat, i.e. 5 h 30 to 6 hours of driving (tolls). Another option, more scenic but longer: the Middle Atlas road via Beni Mellal and Azrou. Either way, plan an overnight stop and do not drive at night.
Around Fes by car
- Leave the car in the Bab Boujloud or Place R'cif car parks: the Fes el-Bali medina is visited on foot.
- Meknes (65 km) and the Roman ruins of Volubilis: a great day out.
- Ifrane and the cedars of Azrou (65 km): cool air and Barbary macaques.
- Towards Merzouga (470 km) through the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley.
