How the cash deposit works
When you collect the keys, you hand the deposit to the agent in dirhams and get a signed receipt. When you bring the car back undamaged and with the same fuel level, the money is returned on the spot, the same day.
How much cash to bring
- Economy car (Dacia Logan, Sandero, Citroën C3): about 4,000 MAD.
- City car (Renault Clio 5, Peugeot 208 automatic): about 5,000 MAD.
- SUV (Dacia Duster): about 8,000 MAD.
- Serenity cover (zero excess) brings the deposit down to the minimum.
Pay on arrival, not online
- Booking on Locavi is free: nothing is charged online.
- The agency confirms, usually within two hours.
- You pay for the rental when you collect the keys, in cash or by card, after seeing the car.
- Same price as online: Locavi takes no commission.
Getting dirhams at Marrakech airport
The dirham cannot be bought before you travel, so withdraw it on arrival: cash machines are in the arrivals hall at Marrakech-Menara, before you meet your agent. Exchange desks are there too, but rates are usually better at cash machines in town.
No deposit, no credit card: what is really possible
