Itinerary hour by hour

1. 8 h 00

   Leaving Marrakech

   Take the N9 south-east. The climb towards the pass starts after Aït Ourir.

2. 10 h 30

   Tizi n'Tichka

   At the top, stop at the viewpoints. The road is wide but used by many lorries.

3. 12 h 00

   Telouet (optional)

   A detour of about twenty kilometres leads to the Glaoui kasbah, with its astonishing interior decoration.

4. 14 h 00

   Aït Ben Haddou

   Visit the ksar early in the morning or late in the day for the light and to avoid the groups.

5. 17 h 00

   Night in Ouarzazate

   Stay overnight and continue the next day to the Dades Gorges, or return to Marrakech.

• Leave early: the pass is often misty late in the day, and snowy in winter.
• Drive carefully: slow lorries and tight bends on the way down.
• Fill up in Aït Ourir or Ighrem n'Ougdal.
