Ouzoud waterfalls from Marrakech: route, journey time and tips

5 March 2026 · 2 min read ·

Morocco's highest waterfalls, 150 km from Marrakech: when to leave, where to park, how much time to allow.

The Ouzoud waterfalls, a 110-metre drop in the Middle Atlas, are one of the favourite excursions for visitors to Marrakech.

To book your car for this trip, see our car rental with driver in Marrakech and citroën C3 rental in Marrakech pages.

The journey

About 150 km, or 2 h 30 to 2 h 45 depending on traffic. The road is paved, with a more winding final stretch. Leave before 8 am to enjoy the site before the groups arrive.

On site

  • Parking: an attended car park at the entrance to the village, for a few dirhams.
  • Trail: the walk down to the foot of the falls takes about 30 minutes.
  • Boats: you can take one to go under the waterfalls.
  • Macaques: they roam free; don't feed them.

When to go?

Spring is ideal: the falls are at their fullest after the rains. In summer it is very busy; arrive early.

One day or two?

  • One day: possible but long (5 h 30 of driving there and back).
  • Two days: stay in a guesthouse in the village to enjoy the site at sunset.

Which car?

An economy car or a city car is enough; an SUV is more comfortable on the last part of the journey.
