240 km and 2 h 40 on the A7 motorway: toll, breaks, traffic, Mohammed V airport, train or car and one-way rental. The route guide.

Many travellers combine Marrakech and Casablanca: to catch a flight at Mohammed V airport, for a meeting or to continue towards Rabat and the north. Here is what you need to know before hitting the road.

To book your car for this trip, see our dacia Logan rental in Marrakech and car rental at Marrakech train station pages.

The trip in numbers

  • Distance: about 240 km.
  • Duration: about 2 h 40 on the A7 motorway, via Settat.
  • Toll: yes, in cash or by card, or with a badge. See driving in Morocco: rules and tolls.
  • Mohammed V airport: allow about 2 h 30 from Marrakech, via the dedicated exit at Nouaceur, without entering Casablanca.

Driving on the A7

The road is straight and fast, with rest areas and petrol stations. Traffic gets heavy near Casablanca, especially on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings. Fill up before leaving: petrol stations and fuel in Morocco.

The car is the best option if you make stops or travel with several people. The train is a good alternative for a solo traveller.

A flight to catch: allow a margin

For an international flight, arrive at the airport three hours before departure, and add a margin for motorway traffic and the car return. Fill up just before returning the car.

Rent in Marrakech, return in Casablanca

Two options exist. The round trip is the most economical: you return the car in Marrakech. The one-way rental avoids the drive back: the car is returned in Casablanca, with the "return in another city" option to request before booking. All the details are on our page car rental Marrakech Casablanca.

And if you continue?

In Casablanca

Casablanca is a big city with dense traffic. If you stay there, park the car at the hotel and get around by tram or taxi. Not to be missed: the Hassan II Mosque and the Ain Diab corniche.
